Shadow Straight Gate

The Shadow carabiner combines high strength with light weight, and great ergonomics. 42g and a 10kN gate open strength is hard to beat.

It would have been possible to remove more weight, but resisting that temptation has produced a carabiner which is not only light and strong, but also very tough and durable.

The engineers designed the Shadow to be strong across all orientations because no matter how careful you are sometimes, kit gets cross-loaded or snagged in the open position.  This design approach makes the Shadow safer to use especially in adverse environments where speed is key and it is not always possible to double check everything. Thus for example a key failure mode for non-locking carabiners is loading whilst the gate is open – the Shadow minimizes this problem with a class leading 10kN gate open strength and a relatively strong spring action that keeps the gate shut.

Another often overlooked safety feature is the design of the top bar – this has deliberately been made steep so that it drives loads into the spine to help ensure optimal loading.

This is due to the grooves that are machined into the gate which provides extra grip.
