A premium very low stretch static rope favoured by rescue teams because of its superior handling and performance. The Teufelberger KM III static rope has a composite construction, with the continuous filament polyester sheath braided over a continuous nylon fibre core.
The polyester sheath gives the rope lower stretch (1.8% compared to 3.5-4% on most all nylon statics), better wet strength, more consistent performance across all conditions. Plus it absorbs less water and also exhibits enhanced abrasion resistance.
The polyester sheath also gives added protection from ultraviolet light as well chemicals harmful to nylon.
KM III provides rugged protection from abrasion, exceptional handling and knot-holding characteristics. In use this gives a tough rope with consistent handling and minimal bounce.
Another key feature of the KM111 is that it uses a balanced construction with half the fibres braided in one direction and half the other – this helps eliminate spin during a rappel.
