The Xtract™SR Stretcher is a modular system that can be built up from a simple fabric stretcher to a complete casualty management and transport system.
The design of the stretcher, which cocoons casualties and minimises movement was originally created to avoid secondary injuries during transportation of the patient.
The core fabric stretcher weighs just 1kg, but it should not be confused with basic "sheet" stretchers - the XTract SR has multiple features to help stabilise a casualty during transport; graphics help ensure the patient is positioned correctly, a drawcord system allows the casualty to be enveloped securely in a cocoon like structure whilst also allowing the stretcher to be shortened to cope with smaller casualties or those with limb loss. An elastic bungee system helps keep the stretcher wrapped securely whilst helping ensure breathing is not restricted.
A casualty can be loaded in as little as 30 seconds on a system which has a 300kg maximum load capability. The Duralite fabric gives the stretcher is light weight whilst remaining immensely strong and durable.
The stretcher can be carried via the multiple carry straps on each side or via the adjustable Xtract SR Xstraps that can be attached to either side and allow the stretcher to be carried on the shoulders allowing hands to be kept free for using equipment.
The fabric stretcher can be dragged if required and the Duralite fabric was chosen not only because of its high strength to weight ratio, but also for its abrasion and tear resistance.
Dragging on hard or abrasive surfaces will cause damage though and if extended drags are part of TTPs then a custom base sheet can be used.
The base sheet is shaped to mirror the fabric stretcher and can be carried separately and quickly attached when needed via zip ties or left attached. Also includes a dual function stretcher protection and casualty insulation. The PE base sheet has layers of foam on the upper side that lies under the casualty; this provides both insulation and pressure relief.
There is harder foam under the feet to minimise pressure on the main drag wear points.
The drag sheet comes in its own transport bag that has multiple molle straps to allow it to be attached to rucksacks.
