The Survival Innovations ERA is a quick release lanyard system which will release reliably 140kg, can be triggered remotely and is quickly and easily re-set. It was designed as part of the USAF Air warrior program to provide a full strength lanyard that would:

 

• Allow an operator to quickly release themselves from the anchor system

• Release under a 140kg load

• Allow remote release so that the pull release handle was always close at hand even when positioned well away from the anchor

• Allow integration into a variety of in-service equipment

 

Originally designed as part of a full harness system, the ERA allowed the user to have a  lanyard connecting to the small of the back and yet release it via a pull tab mounted to the chest. 

 

Once the quick release has been used the device can be re-set by the user, simply re-stow the release handle and use the release connector to clip back into an anchor point.
