Helix Dragon Claws

In detail

The Helix Dragon Claw is a steep earth anchor for rigging situations where the only anchor option is the earth itself. The claws are constructed from 7075 T6 Aluminum and are joined by a Black Dyneema Sling.

The holding power of the Helix Dragon Claw is dependent on the integrity of the substrate in which it is being used, as well as it being correctly installed and orientated. In optimal turf placements, the Helix Dragon Claw has shown a strength of 5–6 kN. Static tensile testing in the lab rates an individual spike at 6.9 kN.

The serrated top edges create a standing platform with improved grip underfoot when it is weighted by an individual for added security. The strength is increased when weight is applied on top of the spikes.

The Helix Dragon Claw uses a medium length for all five spikes, and the bent sections all face the same way, allowing them to stack together. This makes them compact and portable.

The Helix Dragon Claw is available in left- and right-hand bent versions, so it can be holstered on either hip depending on how other equipment is arranged.

The textile sling should be replaced every 10 years or sooner if there are signs of wear or
damage. Spikes can be carefully reshaped and deburred using a file when worn; however, 20mm of tip must remain after the bend.

Features

Claws are linked by a Black Dyneema Sling for strength and reliable compatibility with a variety of connectors.

Serrated top edges create a stable standing platform, improving strength when weighted.

Five medium-length spikes all face the same way, allowing the claws to tessellate neatly together for easy transport.

Each claw is built from 7075 T6 Aluminum for maximum strength and durability while remaining lightweight and compact. In optimal turf placements, the Helix Dragon Claw achieves a holding strength of 5–10 kN, with static tensile testing showing 6.9 kN per spike in laboratory conditions.

Available in left- and right-hand bent versions for use on either hip, the Helix Dragon Claw adapts to a variety of rig setups. The textile sling should be replaced every 10 years or sooner if worn or damaged. Spikes can be reshaped and deburred using a file, provided that at least 20 mm of tip remains beyond the bend.
