In detail
The Helix CES is a lightweight and compact escape system, designed specifically for canopy self-rescue for specialist airborne groups, pilots and aircrew. This 4mm system has been put together in collaboration with one of Helix Operations key partners, PROTECTTION.
The kit comprises of a vacuum-packed system (to ensure a well packed, and secure load), inside a molle pouch to be worn on the front of the operator. Within the vacuum pack, we have the descent device and the line (4mm Technora rope). There is also an anchor connection point, with two extremely strong (yet narrow) slings, to attach to the parachute risers for use as anchor points, for operator descent.
The entire kit gives the operator an extremely lightweight and easy to use system, that takes up minimal space. The transition of weight from the parachute harness onto the escape system is unrivalled. The descender itself is incredibly easy to use, and after practice can be used with a single hand, as (and if) circumstances require. The Technora Rope allows for incredibly high tensile strength and resists high temperatures / exposure to chemicals.

· 1 x TECHNORA Rope with terminated ends (available in choices of 20m / 40m / 60m)
· 1 x DMM Perfecto Carabiner with Screwgate and Captive Bar
· 2 x DMM 60cm, 8mm, Dyneema Slings
· 2 x DMM Locksafe Carabiners with Captive Bar
· 1 x HELIX Foot Tape with DMM Perfecto Screwgate
Strength / WLL:
EN 341:2011/2D (for use up to 60m, with a WLL of 100kg)
ANSI Z359.4-2013 (for use up to 60m, with a WLL of 141kg)
*Officially, the device has been tested by an accredited laboratory for a 60-metre descent with a 120 kg load. For higher descent loads, the device does not break; it simply does not perform as required by the EN 341:2011/2D standard. There is no issue in terms of strength or resistance.
The Helix CES is available as a 10m training kit, for use with a safety back up, for initial evaluation. Helix Operations can then provide an official (4hour) training course for operational use (we can travel to facilitate).
