In detail
The Sterling Velocity is a tough, dynamic climbing rope that handles really well. It is pretty light for a 9.8mm rope, but the tightly woven sheath makes it perform well in harsh conditions, i.e. if used in environments with lots of dirt/ rough rock.
Sterling has also managed the trick of getting a rope with a tightly woven sheath to handle well – it knots securely and flows well through rope controllers without locking up accidentally. It ages well and has above-average durability. It really is a rope with very few compromises.
XEROS technology creates a dry rope with next-level performance—and without a sticky, vulnerable-to-wear outer coating. Unlike traditional dry ropes, where only the sheath is treated, every fibre of the XEROS rope is treated during manufacturing, which makes the rope highly water-resistant and durable for a longer lifespan.
The Sterling Velocity 9.8mm XEROS is certified to both UIAA101 and EN892 standards.
